Taking advantage of the exquisite balance of ingredients crossed with Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop
Shohei Manago, one of Japan’s top class chocolatiers, and Keisuke Oyama of “ease” teamed up to open a chocolate and ice cream store on the first floor of Nisshokan, the former residence of Eiichi Shibusawa, in 2021.
Visitors can enjoy the world of sweets they envision from the store’s representative fresh confections such as JACK and ice cream such as gelato made from Peruvian Amazon cacao. Parfaits made with an abundance of seasonal fruits, such as the “fig and chocolate parfait,” are gems that can only be enjoyed at the eat-in restaurant.
The 90-year-old stately building has been renovated, and the large arched windows and sense of history make for a comfortable space. The packages and windows are decorated with teal green (blue-green) winged ducks, which have long meant “deep wisdom” and “wealth” in Egypt, and were depicted as a motif that brings wealth to Kabuto-cho, which is also the origin of the store name.
