A photo recap of the three-hour micro, stamp rally celebrating Hotel K5's 4th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the No. 5 Kabutocho Heiwa Building.

On the 15th of February, for one night only, a small stamp rally (a stamp-collecting race) was held in the Kabutocho are. The event celebrated the anniversaries of K5, with 4 years in operation, and the building that houses the hotel, which is now 100 years old.

Seven stores participated in the stamp rally, including K5, Neki, Omnipollos Tokyo, Keshiki, BANK, KNAG, and Heiwa Doburoku Kabutocho Brewery. K5, Neki, Omnipollos Tokyo, and Keshiki all had special offerings on the night, making for a truly unique experience.

Kabutocho, Nihombashi, is a town that has experienced many phases and changes over time. And so, the theme for this year’s stamp rally was “Layers of Time”. Although invisible to the naked eye, the steady accumulation of moments, layered one upon one another, is the substance that gives a place or town its unique character.

To celebrate its 4th year in operation, K5 created an exhibition presenting three different scents, each one representing a different moment in time: one scent for the hotel’s fourth anniversary, one scent for the building’s 100th anniversary, and one scent to represent the present-day Kabutocho.

K5’s fourth anniversary. Cedar, a material used on the walls of the hotel, is presented as both a scent and in its raw form.

Oakmoss symbolizes the 100th anniversary of the building, referencing the oak cladding used in the construction of the first floor.
